Record Msg

The Record Msg command was designed for a number of purposes:

  1. To provide a simple 'leave your message after the tone' single level script, mimicing an answermachine.

  2. To provide the option for callers to leave a message, listen to the recorded message and re-record (if necessary).

  3. To provide personal mailboxes for individual users. For instance, Mike could have a box, Chris and Stuart - callers are directed to the correct box and the recorded greeting is saved to the individual users box. This option would normally be found within an advanced tree script.

The Record Msg Process

Assuming that the 'Record Msg' command is being used within a single entry script, the procedure could work as follows:

  1. Caller is greeted by Record Msg greeting message. The default message is 'RecordMsg' which plays "Hello...we are currently unavailable. Please call again soon or leave a message after the tone".

  2. Assuming the caller leaves a message. They would start recording their message and either hang up or press # for further options. Note that if you wanted to inform a caller that they are able to press # for additional options, you could select the default greeting Greeting5 which states "Hello...we are currently unavailable. Please call again soon or leave a message after the tone, pressing the hash key for further options".

  3. If the caller selects #, for additional options, STFax will play the default 'AfterRecMenu' message. This plays "Your message has been recorded. Press 1 to replay your message, press 2 to re-record your message or simply hangup.".

The caller is able to replay the message and re-record. If they re-record their greeting, the 'AfterRecMenu' will be played everytime, after each re-recording of their greeting.

  4. When the caller is happy with their greeting, they simply hang up. STFax will save the message to the 'incoming' folder, or a specified folder within the RecordMsg preferences.
